Fashion Design

Deconstruction

2nd University Year (2013)
My first project in my second year at University is a 9week Tailoring project which I'm currently halfway through and now starting the making of my final design process! Above is a photograph of the Toile I've made so far. My inspiration for this project has been the 1940s. I'm very please that everything looks just how I imagined whilst designing, the 4cm shoulder pads giving a strong, powerful edge, and the large revers. I can't wait to start sewing it in it's final Red fabric.

Above is my final outcome for the Tailoring project! Very pleased with how it's turned out and I'm looking forward to wearing it.

2013

After spending a few weeks practising my Fashion Illustrations, I wanted to experiment mixing my illustrations with my fashion design skills. In result I created this bag above which I am pleased with. I actually wear this bag out often, and have had people ask me where it's from, in which it feels great to say I made it myself. I'm looking forward to making more.

2013

I designed and made this dress for my last project in 1st Year. I was given the designer YSL and the task was to design a S/S"13 collection from our research and design development into our given designer and make one of our designs. I'm very pleased with my outcome. The idea was to give the illusion of the waistband tying around the waist, that is why I've added tucks into the top and skirt and made the waistband folded to try and give this illusion. The Top is transparent which is classic of YSL and the Skirt/Bow is leather which is also a favourite material of the brand. For the waistband I mixed two of the fabrics, to make it look like they were mixing together with the illusion of the waistband tying around the whole dress. Quite complicated to explain haha.

2012

For my final major project during my Art Foundation, my project was based around stories and for the Spring/Summer season. Therefore above, I designed and made a newspaper printed playsuit with the festival season vibe to it. Photographs were taken by Cadi Jones at Thompsons Park in Cardiff. Playsuit modelled by myself.

2012
I designed the dress above for a 2 day university project. My class were given two university days to create a fashionable item by only using materials from the kitchen. Above I used clear plastic sandwich bags, foil and white bin bags. For the top half I ironed strips of white bin bag, foil and clear sandwich bags together. For the bottom half I used a heat gun and melted white bin bags together.
I'm very pleased with it's outcome.

2012

Above was a 1 week project during my Art Foundation. My class were given the task of Re-inventing a plain white Shirt within a working week. For mine, I took two two men's plain white shirts, re-invented the one into an Aline skirt keeping the shirt pocket on the front, and drapped the second shirt for the top half, having it dangle around the neck as a holter neck and then twist the arms to create unique straps for the back.
I was very happy with the outcome as when I was first given the task I had no idea what outcome was going to come of it, but from experimenting on the stand here is what I came up with.
